Firm is looking for a seasoned practitioner of Data Sciences to build and lead our Data Sciences discipline. A successful leader in this space will have the ability to execute, manage, plan and guide. The Director will interact closely with the Business Intelligence team leads and their stakeholder groups to understand their needs, identify solutions and communicate results. The Director of Data Sciences will have the opportunity to do groundbreaking work that will shape the industry.
The work will focus across multiple Data Science domains such as machine learning & algorithm development, inference and proof, prediction and forecasting, clustering and segmentation, optimization, experiment/test design and business case development. The developed products will inform decision making across Marketing, Supply Chain, Retail Operations, Business Development, Finance & Planning, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Field Ops, Product Development, and Digital Platforms & Customer Experience.

Set a vision and strategy that is focused on customer value, owning the overall analytic output of MedMen's Data Science teams.
Build out a data science plan that allows various business units to leverage Data Science products to create sustained value.
Support and showcase a long-term research agenda aimed at generating innovations solving critical business needs and technical challenges.
Lead research, design, implementation and evaluation of machine learning algorithms and statistical models for business applications.
Lay out the process of model selection, accuracy and efficiency.
Recruit, manage and grow a talented team of Data Scientists and Data Science Managers.
Define the required toolset the Data Sciences department will leverage.
Partner closely with Directors of Business Intelligence & organization leaders as a trusted and influential evangelist for data-driven decision making, cultivating a culture of data at MedMen
Manage documentation of technical work as part of the product development process.
Contribute thought leadership to our evolving data strategy on cloud infrastructure, data engineering pipeline, and analysis stack.
Partner with the technical project manager to identify technical challenges, define requirements and prioritize efforts.
A strong passion and evangelism for data science, coupled with deep desire to adapt machine learning technologies to enable extremely effective solutions to MedMen's most challenging data analysis problems
Talent in analytical storytelling with exceptional ability to convey complex analytical results to business stakeholders in relevant and accessible language
Proven experience in predictive analytics, segmentation, experimental design and related areas
Experience with mentoring data scientists on nuances of applied statistical analysis particularly with regards to challenging problems.
Advanced Statistics: Probability distributions, classical hypothesis testing, multivariate regression, time series analysis
Machine Learning: classification, regression, clustering; Demonstrated ability to apply deep learning approaches to categories of machine learning problems.
Algorithms: Fundamental data types (stacks, queues, etc.); Sorting algorithms (quicksort, mergesort, etc.); Dynamic programming-Proven expertise developing algorithms for solving diverse business challenges and creating significant dollar value
Platform Use: Expert in quantitative modeling skills and extensive experience in SQL, SAS, R, Python, Pig, Hive, Hadoop or similar
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience in analytics across merchandising, retail marketing, digital media and consumer trends is a plus
Previous experience working at a Startup and/or Ecommerce business is a plus

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.
Regular 8 hour shifts, 5 days a week.
As needed, not to exceed 15% travel.
Required Education and Experience
10+ years of relevant experience. 4-8 Years Management Experience
Master's Degree is required. PhD is a preferred. PhD or MS in Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, Economics, or related field
