Director of Intelligence Enablement - Culver City, CA

Job Description  

Summary/Objective

Firm is looking for a seasoned practitioner of Data Administration and Engineering to build and lead our Intelligence Enablement discipline. Intelligence Enablement operates at the intersection of analytics and technology, providing teams with the requisite guidance and implementations to own and manage the full data life cycle while always considering consumer trust and privacy. The Director of Intelligence Enablement will interact closely with the Business Intelligence team leads and their stakeholder groups to understand their needs, identify solutions and implement process/product.  The Director of Intelligence Enablement will partner strongly with the Technology group (owners of the database/data warehouse) in designing the correct solution for our business needs. The developed data products will be leveraged by Business Intelligence team leads to design outputs for informing decision making across Marketing, Supply Chain, Retail Operations, Business Development, Finance & Planning, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Field Ops, Product Development, and Digital Platforms & Customer Experience.

  • Recruit, manage and grow a talented team of data and data tool experts

  • Defines Business Intelligence, Intelligence Enablement discipline – collaborating, contributing and adopting global capabilities and participating on the innovating, testing and exploring of new & emerging data and analytic capabilities.

  • Help build our Business Insights capabilities, including defining and implementing requirements for our company-wide BI platform, management of integrations and prioritization of requests backlog.

  • Partner with Digital Product, Marketing and Tech to Design, implement and maintain digital analytics and marketing tags on MedMen's marketing efforts, websites, apps & similar. This includes actively driving process, deployment, and performance improvements and efficiencies

  • Co-Own the output of Business Intelligence products with other Business Intelligence leads

  • Oversight and management of Business Intelligence tooling selection (i.e., Python, R, SAS), license management, and software/environment definition

  • Drive and extend the self-service utilization of the Business Intelligence tool stack through user enablement, support, ongoing training and documentation. This involves maintaining tool fidelity while increasing analytical maturity through the delivery of new capabilities.

  • Lead the organization in understanding Business Intelligence from a data governance and technology roadmap – Steer leadership and business partners through BI Technology decision making and implementation

  • Build awareness through education and research across industry trends, analytics, technology, innovation, and vendor relationships inside and outside MedMen's tool footprint. This is inclusive of serving as a digital technology liaison to bridge the gap between business intelligence and technical team.

  • Guide the development of logical data models, data warehousing and physical database designs applied across multiple computing environments through the organization

  • Establish data architecture and related standards, taxonomies, namespaces and metadata standards

  • Develop standards, process flows and tools that promote and facilitate the mapping of data sources, documenting interfaces and data movement across the enterprise.

  • Maintains a holistic view of data assets by creating and maintaining blueprints that illustrate how data is stored, processed, and accessed

  • Help analytics users from various functions access and understand the data and metrics in our data

  • Conduct regular audits and gap analysis reviews as required to ensure data integrity and data structure compliance within establish data governance frameworks; ultimately leading, reviewing and approving mitigation and remediation strategies across multiple organizations when gaps are identified.

  • Work closely with PMO team to plan and manage budget for projects, maintenance, and resources.

  • Prepare and manage routine performance reports.

 

Competencies

  • Extensive expertise in data technologies and the use of data to support advanced analytics, modeling and reporting. Particular focus on

  • Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google, SAP and Oracle)

  • Warehousing tools ( Teradata, Oracle, SQL, Amazon Redshift, Snowflake), SQL, PostgreSQL

  • Data science technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Impala, Spark SQL, Presto, Sqoop, Flume or similar)

  • Analytics programming or scripting languages like Java, Python, R and SAS.

  • Experience with BI Visualization Tools (Looker, Tableau, PowerBI)

  • Knowledge of basic front-end software development code in both web (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and app (Objective C, Android Java)

  • Knowledge of the following tool areas: Digital Analytics, Tag Management, Data Visualization and Manipulation, Ad Servers, Industry/Customer Research, Marketing Automation, DMPs, DSPs, Testing and Optimization, Email Providers, and Campaign Planning and Orchestration

  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts into business & value-focused language. A key requirement is to communicate clearly and consistently keeping partners well-informed of progress and challenges;

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with ability to multi-task. Ability to work with minimal or no supervision while performing duties; has the ability and initiative to organize various functions necessary to accomplish department activities or goals and be a strong teammate.

  • Consistent track record with both vendor management and delivering measurable business improvements

  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection.

  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.

  • Knowledge of risk data architecture and technology solutions.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

Setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans and vision. Organizing workflow and ensuring that subordinates understand their duties or delegated tasks.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.

  • Regular 8 hour shifts, 5 days a week.

 

Travel

As needed, not to exceed 15% travel.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • 6-8 years of relevant experience. 3-5 Years Management Experience 

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, MIS, or related field, plus six years of experience in data warehousing and business intelligence application development and support, with increasing levels of responsibility.  Possession of a master’s degree is preferred.
