 Job Summary

Firm is looking for a hands-on Senior Technical Program Manager to assist in the implementation, management, and continuous growth of our global warehouse management system.  This person will be a critical leader in our WMS implementation throughout the country and globally.  This person will work closely with leaders in our operations department to find solutions to business problems that need to be solved using the WMS.  This person will also lead all WMS related projects from an IT perspective and ensure service desk requests are handled promptly and accurately.

Provides Direction to: 

This person will build and directly manage a small team focused on service desk, and systems analysis.  This person will also indirectly manage developer resources.

 

 

Examples of Essential Functions:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop advanced knowledge of the WMS applications and configuration

  • Serve as liaison between operations, IT, and vendors

  • Act as the primary IT leader for site implementation and for ongoing system maintenance and improvement projects

  • Travel to other facilities, as needed, to assist with site implementations

  • Manage a service desk and adhering to SLAs

  • Create product documentation to support end users and to minimize support tickets

  • Interfacing with vendor to escalate issues

  • Gain a deep understanding of the platform's capabilities and staying current with each release so we can ensure we are using the system to its fullest potential

  • Work closely with the Senior IT Product Manager, Global ERP to maintain and improve the integration between the two platforms

  • Gather requirements, produce Functional Requirement Documents, and facilitate agreement and sign-offs from project stakeholders

  • Set priorities, manage resources, and adhere to project timelines

  • Work closely with lead developers to ensure business requirements are understood and followed

  • Complete initial testing of new functionality and facilitate end-user testing

  • Continuously find ways to improve processes, execution, and delivery

 

 

Qualifications Guidelines

  • Advanced experience with at least one Tier 1 WMS platform

  • Strong MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Access

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with business leaders as well as technical employees

  • Outstanding writing skills for business and technical documentation

  • Ability to manage issues through completion

  • Travel 10-25%

 

Education/training/experience:

  • 3-7 years' experience working with a Tier 1 WMS like Manhattan or JDA in a multi-facility implementation

  • 3-7 years' distribution/warehousing industry experience

  • BS degree in a technology or information systems related field

  • Strong understanding of distribution business and operational best practices

  • Experience with data integration formats (XML, JSON, Web Services, delimited files, etc.)
