The Opportunity
 
Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Security Infrastructure, the Commissioning
Technician is responsible for the transfership and commissioning of electronic security
systems from preferred contractors to our corporate security infrastructure. The position
will also assist in the service and small scale installation of components from retail, to large
industrial facilities. Must be willing and able to travel both domestic and international.
 
Responsibilities

  • Commissioning of large complex intrusion, access, surveillance systems (including

  • testing, installing, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting) and

  • maintenance of security systems

  • Assist with system design and layout configurations

  • Provide employees with training for proper system usage, and respond to technical

  • inquiries

  • Direct technical instructions (either verbal or written) to execute wiring diagrams

  • and installation specifications for contractors

  • Utilize basic hand and power tools for installation activities in a safe manner

  • Installation of small scale additions and change requests

  • Audit & Document security systems from large facilities to smaller retail operations

Experience

  • Post-secondary training in electronics or equivalent national integrator experience

  • is prefered

  • Minimum of five (5) years industry experience is preferred but we are willing to

  • look for the right combination of education and experience

  • Experience and familiarity with power systems, alarm and access systems, common

  • cable systems and types, connector and grounding techniques, and wiring and cable

  • plans associated with the installation of both Security, Access and CCTV Systems

  • Firm understanding of industry standards and wiring methods, and the ability to

  • read and teach the understanding of technical manuals, documentation packages,

  • schematic wiring diagrams, block and level diagrams, factory wiring diagrams

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail, neatness, and accuracy

  • Master Knowledge of DMP, Genetec, Vivotek, Axis, March Networks

  • Able to work independently

  • Must be able to travel both domestic and international

This is a full-time position based out of Lower Mainland BC or Smith Falls, ON
