Reporting to the Director, Accounting Operations, the Manager, Fixed Assets is responsible for the financial oversight of Canopy Growth’s fixed assets, including its wholly owned subsidiaries.
In this challenging role, you will develop detailed and efficient close processes, streamline reporting, work cross functionally and maintain overall responsibility of fixed assets. The role requires someone who is both technically savvy and used to working in an operationally heavy fixed asset environment.
The Manager will at times be required to interface with senior operational managers across the Company.
Lead fixed asset process related to month-end close including: expense accruals, amortization, deposits, collaborating with business partners, recording of monthly journal entries, reconciling of balance sheet accounts and internal/external reporting
Directing and supervising the Fixed Assets operations; preparing and reviewing all annual and monthly final reports; establishing practical fixed asset inventory procedures
Develop and monitor the compliance of capitalization and purchasing policies and make recommendations to improve policies and processes
Develop and implement process improvements, internal controls, and processes to achieve efficiencies
Develop, create and monitor a system of controls, procedures and forms for the recording of fixed assets
Conduct periodic reviews of the fixed asset schedule to determine timely and accurate dispositions
Proactively pursue business issues that impact the fixed assets and evaluate the situation for acceptable solutions. Propose resolution to management and other affected areas/departments
Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets and respond to internal and external auditors on their inquiries
Fixed Asset Manager will be required to manage a staff of 2

Experience and Background
A minimum of five years’ managerial experience in accounting with a CPA, designation. Experience managing Fixed Asset team – an asset
Superior spreadsheets skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of Sage X3 and Netsuite or similar software is a plus,
Strong knowledge of IFRS and standards relating to Fixed Assets
Ability to lead a team in a constantly changing environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must
Ability to interact with all departments and levels throughout our organization
Leadership, managerial skills and experience are a must
Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize and multitask
This is a full-time position based out of the Kanata office. The position will require travel between Canopy Growth’s locations across the country.
