We’re hiring a Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources team. As a key member of this team, you will ensure the delivery of accurate and timely compensation of our team members. Under the supervision of the Human Resources Director.
Input payroll data to ensure timely processing of the payroll for multiple shifts and locations to 600+ team members
Assist in payroll projects including policy, process, and technological changes to increase accuracy and efficiency and, create standardization
Consistently interpret and apply regulations, employment laws, and other requirements that are guiding the processing of payroll to ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations
Establish payroll procedures
Maintain team member records for existing team members and new hires ensure accurate vacation accruals and monitor attendance
Collaborate with other teams, team members, and supervisors to resolve escalated payroll issues
Assist in the management of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
Perform payroll year-end processes including: T4’s, T4As, etc.
Create payroll audit reports to verify accuracy
Other duties as assigned
Experience and Background
Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent
US Payroll experience an asset
Certified Payroll Manager (CPM), and/or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certifications or working towards completion
Previous experience with Ceridian Dayforce
2+ years of payroll experience
Experience with merging payrolls will be considered an asset
Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office applications
Strong capability navigating within information systems
Knowledge in provincial payroll regulations for Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and New Brunswick
Exceptional organization and prioritization skills
Team player with strong communication skills both written and verbal
This is a full-time position based out of Smiths Falls.
